How is breast reconstruction surgery performed?
Breast reconstruction can be performed with implants or with your tissue.
If it is performed with your tissue, that is when the “flap” is brought into play. If a flap is used, the surgeon can use fat from parts all over your body to fill your breasts. Using your tissue typically means an inpatient stay and a longer surgery time. However, using your tissue leads to more natural results and a decrease in the likelihood that you’ll need revision surgeries in the future.
How long does reconstructive surgery take?
The length of surgery is completely dependent on which procedure you are getting done. Some surgeries can take an hour, while others can take a few hours to complete.
What are the advantages of reconstructive surgery?
Reconstructive surgery restores your body after injury or helps fix body parts that have been affected by birth defects or diseases.
