Close-up portrait of smiling female by the sea. When you begin to scrutinize the look of your facial and neck skin, discover the benefits of the latest resurfacing treatment offered by Dr. Andrew Trussler. Many people who have undergone ProFractional Skin Resurfacing on their face and neck have also sought out the benefits of this therapy on their chest and hands.

ProFractional Skin Resurfacing Benefits

Dr. Trussler will perform an assessment of your skin condition before recommending cosmetic goals from ProFractional therapy.

Benefits of ProFractional therapy include:

  • Outpatient procedure
  • Custom-tailored therapy for your skin condition
  • Minimal downtime post-therapy
  • Overall skin appearance improvement

ProFractional Therapy Basics

A topical numbing cream or local anesthetic is applied to the target area of skin being treated for your comfort during the procedure. Your eyes are protected from the ProFractional laser with safety shields.

Using a handpiece, tiny laser beams are used to treat the target area of your skin condition with ProFractional technology. The surrounding untreated skin promotes healing to the treated area. The skin’s natural wound healing process is jump-started into making new collagen, resulting in a more firm and glowing appearance.

Post-ProFractional Therapy

After the procedure, you will experience redness and sensations like a sunburn. You will probably experience skin tightening which is the remodeling of collagen. This sensation may last four to six months post-treatment.

Aftercare analgesics and ointments to moisten the skin will be recommended by Dr. Trussler who only carries physician-grade products in his office.

Exclusive In-Office Skin Care Products

A physician-recommended skin care regimen is crucial to reversing early aging effects as well as sun damage. Dr. Trussler offers refined and purified skincare products for your daily use.

  • Botanicals: Anti-oxidant equivalent

Laser skin resurfacing | Austin TXThe signs of aging that we typically notice first are those that appear around the eyes, nose, and mouth. After that, we may one day look at our hands and notice that they are thinner and have bulging veins where they didn’t before. At the same time that the skin is changing on the face and hands, it is also changing on the neck and chest. The chest, in particular, is vulnerable to sun damage and eventually shows signs of this, such as spots, rough texture, and precancerous lesions. We don’t talk much about the way that the chest can age the face, but we should. Here, we will discuss the innovative ways in which adults can address their aging chest with our help.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are a mild to moderate method of refreshing the skin on the face and other areas. Treatment is quick and convenient, involving the application of a proprietary chemical solution on targeted skin. After a few minutes of absorption, the chemical solution stimulates a stronger exfoliation process than what happens naturally. Over a few days, dead and damaged skin cells slough off, allowing newer, healthier, younger-looking cells to emerge.

Laser Resurfacing

Many people consider laser treatments for their face but they forget lasers can work on all parts of the body. When the skin on the chest has become thin, crepe-like, and rough, laser resurfacing may be a solution. We perform laser skin resurfacing with either a gentle CO2 laser or an erbium laser depending on the degree of improvement a patient desires.

Microneedling

The microneedling technique has become a new fan-favorite in the past year or two. The treatment involves passing a needle-clad applicator tip over the skin. Several passes may be made to create hundreds of micro-channels in the skin. Unlike chemical peels and laser resurfacing, microneedling works by stimulating fibroblast cells to produce more vital proteins like collagen and elastin. These healing substances replenish the skin with fundamental attributes like firmness and stretchiness, keeping the skin younger-looking from the inside out.

Your face is only one of many parts of the body that will age in time. We can help you address others, like your chest, with convenient treatments. To schedule a consultation at our Austin med spa, call (512) 450-1077.

Laser skin resurfacing is carried out to correct various problems on a person’s skin. This may include the correction of warts, birthmarks, sun-damage, scars left over from skin conditions such as acne, wrinkles, fine lines, liver spots etc. Modern advances in laser technology have allowed surgeons to exercise a high level of control and precision over such procedures. This results in patients enjoying a higher success rate for laser skin resurfacing procedures.

Things to Know about Laser Skin Resurfacing

  • The procedure: The procedure revolves around the use of lasers or light beams. The laser is aimed at the affected areas of the skin and delivered in small pulses.  This removes or eliminates the irregularities in the skin with extreme precision. The precision targeting allows for very little skin lightening or hypo-pigmentation, which is a common side effect of traditional scar removal procedures. The laser destroys the old layer of skin, and heats the layer below it. This stimulates the production of collagen, resulting in the formation of newer and healthier skin over the damaged areas.
  • Preparation: The first step is to talk to your plastic surgeon before going in for the procedure. The surgeon must be made aware of previously existing conditions such as cold sores, fever-blisters etc. Laser skin resurfacing can aggravate these conditions. Your surgeon will also advise you to stay away from certain medications such as ibuprofen, aspirin, or vitamin E. These medications interfere with clotting and can affect the healing process. Smoking is also prohibited and the patient must quit at least two weeks prior to the procedure. Antibiotics maybe provided to avoid infection before the procedure.
  • Post-procedure: Swelling is a common occurrence after the procedure. You may be provided with steroids to control the swelling. The surgeon may also advise the usage of petroleum jelly to prevent scabbing. Bandages are removed 24 hours after the procedure. The treated areas must be cleaned at least five times a day until they heal completely.
