Breast augmentation is a popular cosmetic surgery that helps women enhance the size and shape of their breasts. One of the latest advancements in breast implants is the Gummy Bear breast implant. This type of implant offers a more natural look and decreases the risk of scarring around the breast implant due to the cohesive nature of the silicone. However, like any surgery, there is a recovery period involved. This blog will discuss what patients can expect during their recovery from Gummy Bear Breast Augmentation surgery.

Managing Pain and Discomfort After Gummy Bear Breast Augmentation

Most patients feel minor soreness in the chest region after the surgery, but our surgeons can inject a long-lasting local anesthetic to help with this discomfort for the first 8 hours. Oral pain medication and anti-inflammatories are typically used only one to two days after the operation. Many patients can return to work within 2 to 3 days after the operation, and our surgeons do not limit arm movement after the operation. Scars from breast augmentation incisions will begin to fade in a few weeks and continue to fade for months or years.

What to Expect During Recovery

After Gummy Bear Breast Augmentation surgery, patients may experience some pain and discomfort, but it should be manageable with prescribed pain medication and anti-inflammatories. The incision areas may also feel sore and tender for a few weeks, and patients should avoid strenuous activity or heavy lifting during this time.

During Recovery

In the first few days following surgery, patients should rest as much as possible and avoid activities that may increase heart rate or blood pressure. They should also avoid submerging the incision areas in water, such as in a bath or swimming pool, until fully healed.

Maintenance

Patients may experience swelling and bruising in the breast area as the healing continues. This is normal and should gradually subside over time. Patients should wear a supportive bra during this time to help alleviate discomfort and provide support for the new breast shape.
